Computer User's Group of Yokota (CUGY) is a non-profit, private, base organization open to all member of the Yokota community ages 18 and older who are interested in computers, technology and gaming in a friendly and fun environment.

We usually meet on Saturdays, twice a month, at the Yujo Community Center for LAN parties, games and BBQs, sometimes until dawn. In addition to LAN parties, CUGY maintains an active web presence on its forums where members discuss the latest games, technology news and show off their latest projects.

As a private base organization, CUGY is required to give back to Yokota in the form of community service. We accomplish that in several different ways, including regular participation in the base's 225-RIDE program, providing transportation for base residents who may have had too much to drink and need a safe, free and confidential ride home.

We also take the occasional "field trip" off base to popular geek destinations such as Akihabara, Japanese video arcades and even the Tokyo Game Show.

CUGY's roots date to 1979, when several base residents would meet at Yokota's Skills Development Center to talk about routers and other emerging computer technologies. Over time, the technical discussions gave way to gaming.

Recently, CUGY has begun to expand its horizons beyond just computers, incorporating tabletop wargames, collectable card games, pen and paper roleplaying and console gaming into regular club functions.
